Belton, TX: Imagine coming out of HEB with a buggy of groceries and finding your car being towed out of the parking lot. That’s what happened to one Central Texas man, and now the police reports have been made available.

And it doesn’t look good for M-K-E Towing.

I Am A Texan first posted about this story back in September, but at the time details were unsubstantiated. Now that video and police reports are available, the man whose car was being stolen is seemingly vindicated.

News Channel 25 in Waco released this story:

KXXV-TV News Channel 25 – Central Texas News and Weather for Waco, Temple, Killeen

Under Texas Law, the victim of the attempted theft would have been justified in carrying out lethal force to protect his property from being stolen. (Link to law here – look under protection of personal property)

M-K-E Towing should be thankful that didn’t happen and be warned that the next time they try to steal a car their driver may not make it out alive.

In the meantime, the state is investigating whether to revoke M-K-E Towing’s license.
