We first posted this story last week after several sports blogs started reporting that it ‘was a done deal’. Not so fast. The Cowboys deny any trade deal is in the works, and Fox Sports analysts say it’s because Jerry Jones would have to pony up $11 million in cash to make it work. Something he’s not willing to do. It looks like the Dallas Cowboys are reaching the end of an era; the Romo era.

According to several reliable sources, the Broncos and the Cowboys are both seeking a trade before the November 1st deadline.

For the Broncos, this means adjusting their current roster to allow Romo to come on board.

For the Cowboys, this means coronating Dak Prescott as their starter.

One source is reporting that:

After two consecutive setbacks, latest reports emerge that the Broncos are looking to strike a deal with the Dallas Cowboys to acquire the services of 13-year QB veteran Tony Romo. Many believe that Broncos’ starting QB Trevor Siemian cannot bring the team to Super Bowl as shown on their losses and they badly need Romo’s experience to retain the crown.

No matter if the trade goes through or not, it is probably safe to say that the Romo era is over.

UPDATE: Other sources are saying that there’s no way a deal can be reached. Fox Sports has an excellent analysis here.
