Chip and Joanna Gaines are the stars of HGTV’s hit show ‘Fixer Upper’. chipjoanna

From Waco, Texas they are building a worldwide fan base because they are so relatable. They are the people on TV who everybody can see being friends… or how many of us (myself included) wish that I could relate to people and my spouse like they do.

Life is messy. It is filled with sadness, hope, joy, depression, elation, and the mundane.

So when the Gaines decided to open themselves up and make themselves vulnerable in a presentation by ‘I Am Second’, a Christian ministry which seeks to portray every day Christ-followers as regular people with the same struggles and thoughts that all of us have, it was a surprise, given the image they portray to their fan base.

However, if there is one thing about the Gaines that comes through in each and every episode, it is that they make no effort to conceal their faith in Jesus.

Chip and Joanna embrace all of life in this interview. Because of Jesus’ grace.

Let me explain.

As members of the on-fire Antioch Community Church in Waco, (The same church whose missionaries were kidnapped by the Taliban at the beginning of the Afghanistan conflict post 9/11) they are prime to reach others with the Gospel, and they believe it is their Divine mission to do so.

I Am Second, released their very real and very intimate interview a few days ago.

It is breathtakingly real.

I respect Chip and Joanna that much more after watching.

Here it is:

What has brought them through all of their struggles? Jesus.

Period. End of story.
