Elected officials are asking you to not donate to the Red Cross in the wake of Hurricane Harvey due to massive complaints of incompetence, turf guarding, and profiteering throughout the region.

Dave Martin, a city council member from the city of Houston stated during a council meeting: “I beg you not to send them a penny” and repeatedly branded the Congress-endorsed charity “the red loss”.

Most of the work has been done by local governments, churches, and charities and the American Red Cross is just getting in the way and even impeding the efforts of other charities by trying to assume “command” of already existing shelters which have been built by local government, Samaritan’s Purse, Mercy Chefs, and others.

“Yet every time I turn on the TV, I see (the Red Cross) taking in millions of dollars in donations,” he said, branding the charity “the most inept, unorganised organisation I’ve ever experienced”.

It’s safe to say that after the 9/11, Haiti, and now the Hurricane Harvey fiascos, the American Red Cross may never regain its once prestigious image.
