We visited Old Town Salado this week and decided to highlight it on I Am A Texan.

At the heart of Old Town Salado is a beautiful little cafe known as “Cathy’s Boardwalk Cafe”.

We decided to eat lunch. It couldn’t have been a better decision.

For about $10 a person, you’ll get a Texas-sized meal complete with sweet tea (if that’s what you want to drink).

Amy was our server and she was incredibly attentive.

With delicious home-made ranch dressing, even the kids ate their salads!

The decor is indelibly Salado.

Elsewhere in the Old Town area are specialty stores offering art, custom made pens, olive oil, antiques, and other neat things.

Old Town Salado is just off I-35, and it’s incredibly easy to get to now that the interstate construction is finally complete. (It took about 18 months longer than expected).

All in all, a day trip to Old Town Salado is fun for all.

Be sure to visit Old Town Salado and tell ’em I Am A Texan sent you!
